Protect the Air You Breathe
The American Lung Association releases our annual State of the Air Report. Locally, the grades have stalled, but campaigns around the state are encouraging residents to help improve our air quality. We offer ways for you to help too.
The American Lung Association®'s annual State of the Air Report grades states and counties from official data base that the states report to and that EPA uses, then the American Lung Association® translates the monitored data into grades and recommendations for action.
This year's report shows Washington's grades have stalled. However, statewide campaigns including wood stove changeout programs continue to encourage residents to improve the air we breathe by upgrading their wood stoves.
The American Lung Association® of Washington would like to encourage residents to take one of these actions, so we can all try to make a difference in the air we breathe:
- Try to avoid driving alone or using your car every day
- Replace your gasoline-powered yard equipment with electric or manual equipment
- Choose the cleanest way to heat your home
- Become a clean-air advocate
